FAQ
Q: How long until we can play?
A: A beta launch is expected around July-September 2012. By then we are expecting to have a functioning station and some basic gameplay. In a year or two down the road we should have the versatility and depth that SS13 has to offer.
Q: What do I need to install?
A: We are planning on using some mods and plugins that will drastically alter Minecraft's gameplay. Before we launch the mods will be combined on one installer that will be quick and simple to use. (similar to Spout, Technic, etc.)
Q: Will you be able to add "X" from SS13?
A: Unfortunately there are restrictions for the things that we can transfer over to the Minecraft project. Don't expect anything like heating plasma to 50,000 Celsius anytime soon.
Q: Will it cost money to...
A: Nope. There will be no charge to play on the server or to get access to any special roles or abilities.
Q: What about Zeta, the mining station, and other locations?
A: Those will be added later. The focus right now is the main station.
Q: So that texture pack...
A: For the server the SS13 texture pack will be required. If you don't have it, then you will not be able to play.
Q: Are you going to release the map?
A: While this project is still in development the map will not be released to the public. Maybe sometime in the future that will change...
Q: Why did you alter redstone mechanics?
A: Because the current state for redstone allowed infinite power generation. We wanted the gameplay mechanics to require a power source that wasn't so abundant and easy to generate. Thus, we were forced to remove items that generated redstone power continuously, such as levers, redstone torches, repeaters, and some logic gates from RedPower.
Q: So can I be an admin on the server?
A: Don't bother asking. We will contact you if we think you are capable of being admin.
Q: Man, this is so cool! How can I help?
A: Right now, we have staff positions open. (check the "staff" section for info) Any word that you can spread about the project to communities would be more than welcome. :)
